TOURISM FUTURES CONVENTION
TFC 2024
The Tourism Futures Convention gathers students, academics and practitioners to jointly discuss the future of tourism. TFC is a futures convention, not a pure technology convention. We are interested in scenarios of how the world of tomorrow could look like, including but not limited to technology. If you are interested in tourism futures approach, please join us!
Keynote Speakers
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Martin Robertson
Dr Martin Robertson's passion for teaching and learning application and excellence has been applied successfully in his teaching and leadership roles in Higher Education, in the UK and in Australia.
As well as having been programme leader for 7 Higher Education degree programmes, Martin has also designed and led or co-led a series of short professional development courses for industry. These include leadership development; sustainable, entrepreneurial & innovative tourism management, and event management.
Martin has led or co-lead 11 consultation projects for providers of large tourism events (arts, agriculture and sport). More recently these have focussed on community future visioning activity Martin has also maintained contact with the industry environment through supportive involvement in related agencies, non-executive directorship or committee roles. This applied activity drives his continued desire for providing a learning, teaching and research experience that is professionally and socially useful, and which allows for forward thinking. Sustainability, resilience, regenerative capacity, and social justice are key components of this work.
Enthusiasm for all things relating to sustainability, the UN SDGs, and social benefits was present in the research Martin undertakes. Martin’s PhD, ‘Sustainable festivals and events – an inquiry of leadership and futures’, is exemplar of why and how future thinking is central to his work. This desire to focus ahead is demonstrated in the editorship of 6 books and as guest editorship of 8 journal special issues. He has over 80 publications (journal articles, reports and book chapters).
Dr. Adrian Müller
Adrian is a passionate Scientific Project Leader at CRED-T, Uni Bern's Tourism Research Center, bringing a unique mix of academic dedication and vast hands-on industry experience in tourism. His research interests include sustainable travel and tourism, with particular experitise in business travel and aviation, examining sustainable consumer behavior, and a focus on decarbonization. He has had the opportunity to study and teach various topics in marketing and management, with a focus on tourism, gaining diverse teaching experience at different universities and levels. He has been part of numerous meaningful academic and practical projects, encouraging international collaboration and implementing strategic marketing solutions in the dynamic fields of tourism and transportation. He actively demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning, combining analytical skills with real-world industry knowledge in his journey.
